BACKGROUND OF THE IEDO ORGANIZATION – KANDHKOT
The Indus Environment Development Organization (IEDO) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental, and non-religious organization, founded in 2005 and registered under the Social Welfare Act of 1961. IEDO is dedicated to helping rural communities grow in a way that ensures long-term social and economic stability. Since its inception, the organization has focused on promoting a comprehensive range of initiatives across key sectors, including education, protection, health and nutrition, disaster risk reduction (DRR), human rights, and climate change.
IEDO imagines a future where poverty is eradicated, and communities thrive in a healthy, peaceful, and violence-free environment. By advancing human rights and fostering a culture of civic education, IEDO believes it is possible to achieve gender balance and long-lasting community empowerment. The organization prioritizes integrating civic education and human rights into local systems, promoting a society where education and equity are central to development.
In its ongoing efforts, IEDO remains proactive and innovative, addressing critical gaps in education, protection, health, DRR, and human rights. These sectors, often overlooked in the communities we serve, require focused attention and dedicated action to uplift marginalized populations. IEDO is committed to bridging these inequalities by offering vital support and facilitating meaningful progress at the grassroots level, ensuring sustainable growth and empowerment for all.
